Estidama / energy tool

Interior Lighting Power Density (LPD)

Enter each space with its area and the allowance from your own licensed source, then the luminaires serving it. The tool returns the design LPD per space, the building rollup, and the spaces that breach.

Completion

How much of the calculation is assembled. It tracks your working file — it is not a statement of compliance, which the reviewing authority makes.

🧪 Example figures

Illustrative only — not typical values, not a recommendation. Replace with your own.

The meeting room breaches its own allowance while the building passes on totals. Allowance figures are round placeholders, not values from any standard.

⚖️

This tool does not publish an LPD allowance table. Estidama’s interior table is a unit-converted, rescaled reproduction of a copyrighted model code, and the ASHRAE 90.1 Section 9 tables it derives from are copyrighted outright. Enter the allowance for each space type from your own licensed copy or the project template, and record which document it came from below — the arithmetic, the aggregation and the exception-finding are what this tool contributes.

Step 1 · Luminaire schedule

Circuit watts must include ballast or driver losses.

Efficacy is computed and shown, but no threshold is asserted — the Pearl Rating System publishes none.

Step 2 · Spaces

One row per space, with its own allowance.

  • Meeting room10.67 / 9.0 W/m²

The space-by-space test compares TOTAL connected load against the sum of area × allowance, so a room can sit over its own allowance while the building still passes — it is borrowing headroom from rooms that came in under. Those rooms are listed so you know which ones are carrying the scheme.

Step 3 · Occupancy controls

Spaces occupied intermittently need automatic shut-off or presence detection.
